Victoria Yeh – Concertmaster!

We are very pleased to introduce the new concertmaster of the Summerhill Orchestra, Victoria Yeh!

Victoria Yeh 06-17 (1)

Victoria Yeh is a Toronto-based acoustic and electric violinist, having performed across Canada from coast to coast to coast. Classically trained, Victoria studied under many teachers including the late Ranald Shean (founding member ESO), Broderyck Olson (Assistant Concertmaster, ESO), Frank Ho (Grant MacEwen College), Martin Riseley (former Concertmaster, ESO), Christian Howes (former Asst Professor, Berklee College of Music), and the late Jacques Israelievitch (former Concertmaster, TSO).

In her youth, she had the honour of performing across the City of Edmonton as Concertmaster for the Singing Strings youth orchestra, as well as with her own professional chamber group, Quintessence. Her early musical endeavours helped her pay her way through University, eventually leading her to move to Toronto in 2003.

But classical music was not enough, and through various collaborations with jazz, rock and prog artists, Victoria eventually came to create a unique sound blending the classical purity of the violin with the edginess of prog fusion.

In addition to a full-time performance and recording career, Victoria has spoken and performed for kids from Canada, the US and Costa Rica about the joys and magic of music, while also serving as the Chair on the Board of Directors for Brazil Strings, a not-for-profit that aims to bring teachers and instruments to underprivileged youth in Brazil.

Victoria is deeply honoured to be serving as Concertmaster for the new Summerhill Orchestra and looks forward to sharing and creating music and joy with her fellow musicians and the greater community.
